We've audited hundreds of UK locksmiths websites. The same seven mistakes show up every time. Fixing them is the difference between a site that sits idle and one that puts booked work on your calendar.

Mistake #1: Targeting 'locksmith' without 'emergency' or city
Generic 'locksmith' searches are research queries. The money is in 'emergency locksmith {city}', 'lockout {city}', 'lock change {city}' — high-intent, high-margin work.
The fix: Build dedicated landing pages for each service per city. Emergency pages should have phone numbers in giant text and one CTA: call. See Locksmiths London.
Mistake #2: Hiding MLA approval
Master Locksmiths Association approval is the only consumer-facing trust mark in UK locksmithing. National emergency-locksmith chains don't have it. Customers in {city} look specifically for MLA.
The fix: Display the MLA-approved badge top-right of every page. Link to your MLA profile. This single signal closes more {city} bookings than any other.
Mistake #3: No 'no callout fee' messaging
Customers fear being held to ransom by a panicked late-night locksmith call. A clear, repeated 'no callout fee, all quotes free' wins enquiries.
The fix: Put 'no callout fee' in the hero, footer, every page header. Reassures the customer up front. Pre-empts the biggest objection.
Mistake #4: Vague pricing
Customers Google 'how much does a locksmith cost {city}'. The locksmith who answers with honest ranges ('£80-150 typical UPVC lock change') wins the click and the trust.
The fix: Publish a pricing-examples page. Be honest. National chains hide pricing for a reason — undercut them on transparency, win the booking.
Mistake #5: Missing UPVC + multipoint lock pages
UPVC multipoint locks (Yale, Avocet, ERA, Ingersoll, Mila) are the most-searched UK lock type — and most {city} locksmiths bury them in a service list.
The fix: Build a dedicated UPVC lock page per city. Cover every brand. Add typical fix costs. Wins one of the highest-volume locksmith searches.
Mistake #6: No emergency vs scheduled tier pricing
Different pricing for 3am vs Tuesday afternoon is honest and fair. But hiding it makes customers fear surge pricing. Showing both rates clearly converts.
The fix: Publish two tiers: emergency (24/7, premium) and scheduled (office hours, standard). Customers in a panic pay the emergency rate when they see it's honest.
Mistake #7: Missing Locksmith + AggregateOffer schema
Schema.org's Locksmith + AggregateOffer + EmergencyService markup with priceRange + hoursAvailable surfaces 'emergency locksmith {city}' rich results.
The fix: Add Locksmith, EmergencyService, FAQPage schema to every page. We build it in by default — see industries/locksmiths.
The shortcut: get all seven done for you
