An honest UK price guide for plumbers and heating engineers: what you are likely to be quoted, what pushes the price up, and what the site has to do when someone has water coming through the ceiling.
Quick answer
Most UK plumbers are quoted £10 to £30 a month for a DIY builder, £300 to £1,500 for a freelancer, or £1,500 to £6,000+ for an agency (typical UK quote ranges). Hosting and edits are often extra. DigiSurf Agency builds plumber websites for £99 one-off plus £30 a month, with hosting, security, backups and support included.
UK plumber website costs at a glance
The build price is only half the story. Compare what each route costs to run every month, and who makes changes when you need them.
| Route | Typical UK cost | Usually included | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| DIY site builder | £10 to £30 a month, plus your own time | Templates, hosting, basic forms | Evenings lost to setup; generic look; you do every edit |
| Freelancer | £300 to £1,500 one-off | A more tailored design | Hosting, edits and security billed separately; one person to chase |
| Traditional agency | £1,500 to £6,000+ one-off | Strategy, copy, bigger builds | Paying for process a local plumbing firm rarely needs |
| DigiSurf Agency | £99 one-off + £30 a month | Build, hosting, SSL, daily backups, security, edits and support | Extra features such as online booking are priced as add-ons |

What a plumber website needs to win emergency and "near me" calls
A plumber's site has one main job: turn a worried visitor on a phone into a call within a few seconds. Most people land on it from a Google search for something like "emergency plumber near me", so the essentials matter far more than a fancy design.
- Tap-to-call at the top of every page. A large phone button on mobile, plus WhatsApp if you answer it. Nobody with a burst pipe will hunt for a contact page.
- Honest hours. Say plainly whether you take emergency call-outs, and when. If you do not work nights or weekends, say so rather than letting a customer find out at 2am.
- A clear service area. List the towns and postcode districts you cover near the top of the homepage and on the contact page.
- Services split out properly. Leaks and burst pipes, blocked drains, bathroom installs, boiler servicing and repairs, landlord gas safety checks: one short section or page each, only for work you actually do.
- Pricing signals. If you charge a call-out fee or give free quotes, say so. It filters out time-wasters and builds trust.
- Real reviews and photos. Google reviews next to the call button, and photos of your own van and finished jobs rather than stock images.
- Speed on 4G. Compressed images, no heavy sliders or autoplay video. A slow site loses the caller to the next result.
We build these in by default on our websites for plumbers.
Showing Gas Safe registration (if you do gas work)
If you work on boilers, cookers or other gas appliances, customers and landlords will look for your Gas Safe details, so make them easy to find and easy to check.
- The Gas Safe Register is the official register of businesses and engineers allowed to carry out gas work, and the public can check a registration on its website.
- Show your registration number in the footer or on your About page, and consider a short line pointing customers to the Register to check it.
- List only the categories of gas work you are registered for. If you do not do gas work, avoid wording like "boiler repairs" that suggests you do.
- Before using the Gas Safe logo or ID card images, read the Register's own guidance on how registered businesses may use them.
- Other memberships or approvals belong on the site only if you genuinely hold them and they are current.
What drives the cost of a plumber website
The price rises with the amount of content, the features you need and whether ongoing running costs are included. Knowing the drivers helps you compare quotes like for like.
- Number of pages. Separate pages for each service and main town add up. At DigiSurf, pages over the first five are £10 each.
- Copy and photos. Someone has to write clear service descriptions. If you can send photos of your own work, that saves cost and looks more genuine.
- Forms and booking. A basic enquiry form is standard. A quote form that accepts photos of the problem, or online booking for boiler services, costs more.
- Hosting, SSL, backups and security. These are ongoing costs. A cheap one-off build with none of them included is not cheap for long.
- Edits. Changing Christmas opening hours or adding a new service should be quick. Ask whether edits are included or charged by the hour.
- Getting found. Ranking in the map results is separate work from building the site. See our local SEO service for trades.
Red flags when you are getting quotes
Most problems come from what is left out of the quote, not the headline price. Ask these questions before you agree to anything.
- The domain is not in your name. Make sure you own your web address, or can take it with you if you leave.
- Unclear exit terms. Read the contract length and cancellation terms before you sign, whoever you use.
- "Guaranteed number one on Google". Nobody can promise that honestly.
- No mobile preview. If you cannot see the site working on your own phone before paying, be wary.
- Copied content. Template text lifted from another plumber's site does you no favours with customers or search engines.
- Made-up reviews or statistics. Fake trust signals can damage your reputation when customers notice.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a plumber website cost in the UK?
Typical UK quote ranges are £10 to £30 a month for a DIY builder plus your own time, £300 to £1,500 one-off for a freelancer, and £1,500 to £6,000 or more for an agency, with hosting often extra. DigiSurf Agency charges £99 one-off plus £30 a month, hosting and support included.
What should a plumber website include?
A tap-to-call phone number on every page, the services you actually offer, the towns and postcodes you cover, your real working and emergency hours, Google reviews, photos of your own jobs, and Gas Safe details if you do gas work. It must load quickly on a phone.
Should I show my Gas Safe number on my website?
If you carry out gas work, showing your Gas Safe registration number makes it easy for customers and landlords to check you on the Gas Safe Register. Only list the types of gas work you are registered for, and if you do not do gas work, do not imply that you do.
Do I need a separate page for every town I cover?
No. Start with a clear service area list on your main pages. Add a page for a town only when you have something genuine to say about working there, such as local jobs, response times or reviews. Dozens of near-identical town pages rarely help and can look spammy.
Is hosting usually included in the price?
Often not. Many one-off builds leave you to pay separately for hosting, SSL, backups, security and edits, so always ask what the monthly running cost will be. DigiSurf Agency includes hosting, security, daily backups, SSL, support and edits in the £30 monthly fee.
How long does it take to get a plumber website live?
It depends on the builder and how quickly you supply details and photos. A DIY site can take several evenings, and freelancers and agencies commonly quote several weeks. DigiSurf Agency shows you a free draft on a live link first and sites are typically live within about seven days.
Will a new website bring in emergency call-outs on its own?
Not on its own. Most emergency jobs start with a Google search, so the website works best alongside a complete Google Business Profile, a steady flow of genuine reviews and some local SEO. The website's job is to turn that visit into a phone call.
Can I add online booking or a quote form later?
Yes. Many plumbers start with call and WhatsApp buttons plus a simple enquiry form, then add online booking for routine work like boiler servicing once they know they want it. At DigiSurf Agency an online booking system is an add-on from £99 one-off.
